Mangaluru, Jul 8: The inauguration ceremony of the Silver Jubilee Celebration of Padua Pre-University College, along with the Student Council inauguration, was held on Saturday, July 6 at 10 AM in the St Sebastian Church Hall, Bendur.
The dignitaries present were Maxim L Noronha, vice president of the CBE, Diocese of Mangalore; chief guest Jeevan Saldanha, CEO of Spectrum Industries and former President of the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industries; guest of honour Vinod D'Souza, associate professor at AJIET Mangaluru and vice president of Bendur Church; and Patsy Britto, secretary of Bendur Church. They were accompanied by Fr Walter D'Souza, correspondent of Padua Educational Institutions; Fr Arun Wilson Lobo, campus director of Padua Educational Institutions; Mariette Mascarenhas, principal of Padua Pre-University College; and cabinet coordinators Cauvery T B, Anil Crasta, and Priya Deena Sequeira. The dignitaries were welcomed and escorted to the venue by the college band.
To embrace God’s presence on this auspicious occasion, a prayer song was sung by the college choir. Mariette Mascarenhas welcomed the dignitaries present on the dais.
The ceremony was inaugurated by the dignitaries lighting the lamp. Chief guest Jeevan Saldanha awarded the badges to the cabinet ministers to assume their posts and responsibilities.
In his message, Saldanha highlighted that college life provides an opportunity to build one's personality and emphasized the importance of time management to achieve success. He stated that dedication, passion, and hard work are key to achieving goals. He also advised students to cherish the beautiful memories of college days for the rest of their lives and not to let religious barriers spoil relationships.
The principal administered the oath-taking ceremony. All clubs were inaugurated by reading their objectives. To mark the inauguration of the Silver Jubilee year, the logo was unveiled by Maxim L Noronha along with the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. This was followed by a resplendent rendition of the Jubilee song by the college choir. The chief guest addressed the gathering with an inspirational speech, stating that it takes many years to achieve success in life. The correspondent shared thoughts of wisdom, and Maxim L Noronha delivered the presidential address, sharing the history of Padua High School, the purpose of starting Padua School, and how Padua PU College has grown by providing value-based education. Renita Monteiro, lecturer in Computer Science, thanked everyone involved in making the inaugural celebration a grand success.
The cultural programme began with students showcasing their talents through music, dance, and entertainment. The inaugural ceremony ended with the National Anthem.
