Udupi, Jul 5: A public felicitation for Ivan D'Souza, the newly re-elected Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) of Karnataka, will be held on July 7 at 4 PM. The event will take place at the Basel Mission Memorial Auditorium, Mission Compound, Udupi.
During a press meet on July 5 at the Press Club, Prashanth Jathanna, vice president of the United Christian Forum (UCF), stated, “Ivan D'Souza has extensive experience in politics, having served at various levels including Grama, Taluk, and Zilla Panchayats. He has held numerous party positions at the district and state levels and has reached out to many in need. He was instrumental in introducing the Mukya Manthri Anudhana Nidhi. This event is organized to congratulate him on his re-election as a council member.”
Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, vicar general of Udupi diocese, added, “We are organizing a felicitation for MLC Ivan D'Souza on July 7. He is a committed leader and a strong advocate for backward class communities.”
The felicitation event is a joint effort by the All Karnataka United Christian Forum for Human Rights, Udupi, along with the CSI, UBMC, the Orthodox Syrian Churches, the Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh, the Catholic Women’s Association of Udupi diocese, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement of Udupi diocese, and other like-minded groups from Udupi district.
Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of the Udupi diocese will preside over the event. Vinayakumar Sorake will be the chief guest, and other guests of honour will include Ivan Soans, Fr M C Mathai (vicar general of St Mary’s Orthodox Syrian Cathedral, Brahmavar), Selva Kumar (Pastor), and Vijay Harvin.
