Udupi, Jul 4: A press conference on the upcoming Rashtriya Lok-Adalat, scheduled for July 13 from 10:30 am to 4 pm in all district courts, was held at the Udupi District Court on Thursday, July 4.

Kiran Gangannavar, principal district and sessions judge and chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, addressed the conference, stating, "This is a good platform for the public to settle their pending cases and pre-litigation cases. If a case has already been filed in the court and the court fee has been paid, if the case is settled in the Lok-Adalat, the fee will be returned to the client. No appeal is required for the cases settled in Lok-Adalat. It is a better opportunity for the parties to find a quick resolution of their disputes without delay."

Kiran informed that pre-litigation cases like check invalidation, bank loan recovery, electricity and water charges, negotiable criminal cases, matrimonial cases and civil cases, real estate authority, district consumer forum, reinstatement cases, and cases pending in Permanent Jantha Court can be settled in Lok-Adalat.

Cases pending in court, such as negotiable criminal cases, check invalidation cases, labour disputes, land acquisition, service cases relating to pay and allowances and pension cases, negotiable civil, and other cases can be mediated.

M Purushottama, senior civil judge and member secretary of the District Legal Service Authority, Srinivasa Suvarna, additional district and POCSO judge, Ronald Praveen Kumar, president of the Udupi Bar Association, and Rajesh, secretary, were present at the press conference.
