Bengaluru, June 12: American multinational automotive and clean energy giant, Tesla, which is headquartered in Austin, Texas, has evinced interest to invest in India and the details of location and size of investment were being worked out, Union Heavy Industries and Steel Minister H D Kumaraswamy was informed by the Department officials at a meeting held in Udyog Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The minister was informed that Tesla has sought certain concessions before finalising the investment proposals and the details were being worked out.
Kumaraswamy took note of the demand from workers for reviving the Visvesvaraiah Iron and Steel factory at Bhadravathi in Karnataka and also obtained details on the Tumkuru Industrial Park and the HMT factory land and its utilisation.
The minister asked the officials to prepare a note on proposals to be put up before the Union Cabinet and also requiring Finance Depatment approvals so that he could take them up.
Heavy Industries Department secretary Kamaran Rizvi as well as Steel Department secretary briefed the minister.
