Mangaluru, Jun 12: Opposition leader R Ashoka said, “The Congress government is acting like a Taliban government in the state, as law and order have completely collapsed under their administration.”
Addressing the media on Wednesday, June 12, Ashoka stated, “The Boliyar stabbing incident seems like a pre-planned murder attempt on BJP representatives for chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ during the celebration of Modi’s swearing-in ceremony.”
He also questioned, “How is it possible for a person coming to pray at a mosque to have a dagger? If he possesses a dagger, he must be trained.”
“Congress is turning the state into a Taliban regime by granting bail to those who raise pro-Pakistan slogans. I strongly condemn the attack on party representatives in Boliyar. We will not remain silent on this issue; we will raise it in the assembly. The state BJP will teach a lesson to the Taliban-like government,” said Ashoka.
He also questioned the government and the police department regarding why a case was filed against innocent individuals. “The counter-case was filed a day after the incident. If there were any provocative statements made, they should have filed the case immediately,” he said.
When asked about the provocative slogans, Ashoka said, “The procession took place on a public road, and they did not chant any provocative slogans other than ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai,’ as seen in the video footage.”
He also challenged the police commissioner to release the video clips where any provocative slogans were raised. He claimed that due to government pressure, a counter-complaint was filed to weaken the main stabbing case.
He added, “Previously, four criminal cases were filed against the MLA. It is wrong to go to the school, police station, and to file a case against MLA Dr Bharath Y Shetty, who was not even present during the school incident. Law and order in the state have completely collapsed under the Congress government, with a 40% increase in crime over the past year.”
“The Congress could not even cross double digits in the state, despite having 136 MLAs. The Congress is afraid of the BJP-JDS coalition, and their one-year achievement is a total zero,” he added.
“We also demand the resignation of chief minister Siddaramaiah over the suicide of government officials of the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation Limited,” he said.
When asked about the BJP-JDS coalition, Ashoka said, “The alliance with JDS will continue in the taluk panchayat and zilla panchayat elections as well.”
“We had two agendas this time: one was to make Narendra Modi the Prime Minister for a third term, and the other was to cross the 400-seat mark. We achieved the first agenda but could not achieve the second. We will review the losses in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and the fewer seats in Rajasthan and strategize for the upcoming elections.”
MP Capt Brijesh Chowta, district BJP president Sathish Kumpala, MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Harish Poonja, Dr Bharath Y Shetty and Rajesh Naik, MLC Prathapsimha Nayak and others were present.
