Mangalore, Oct 21: A function organised to bid farewell to the outgoing students of an ayurveda college on the night of Wednesday October 19 turned out to be an occasion they would not easily forget.
Soon after the function, many of them landed in the hospital, suffering from a suspected case of food poisoning.
Several teachers of the college and students had taken part in a function arranged to bid farewell to the final year students of the same college on that evening, and had consumed food there. It is learnt that food from a city-based hotel including burgers, were supplied for the function.
Out of around 300 persons who consumed food at the function, nearly 160 complained of nausea and other complications. About 120 students with mild symptoms were provided first aid and sent home, while the other 40 continue to be treated in SCS Hospital.
