Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Oct 19: The government, which has since some time been laying additional emphasis on providing healthcare through alternative systems of medicine, has planned to open 17 Ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga and Natoropathy, Unani, Siddha, Homoeopathy) hospitals at various places in Dakshina Kannada district.

This step is being taken, considering the popular response received from the patients for these systems of medicine. A proposal to open 17 new clinics in addition to nine already in existence, has been sent to the government for approval, said district Ayush officer, Dr Sadashiva.

Once the government approves the plan, clinics will be opened at Padupanambur, Yedapadav, and Hosabettu in Mangalore taluk, Siddakatte, Sangabettu, Balepuni, and Kolnadu in Bantwal taluk, Alankaru in Puttur, Kajur, Ujire, Navura, Belal, Barya, Koyyur, Savanalu and Hosangady in Beltangady taluk.

These clinics will offer facilities of examination and dispensary facilities free of cost under different systems of medicine. With this, the government plans to give impetus to the traditional methods of treatment. It is learnt that nine clinics which are already functional in the district have been popular among the villagers.
