Mangaluru/Udupi, May 27: Temples and leisure spots in the twin districts were filled with devotees and tourists, mainly from other districts of the state, due to a series of holidays and the nearing end of children's summer vacation.
Crowds of people were seen at Someshwar, Panambur, Suratkal, and Malpe beaches on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday, nearly 30,000 devotees visited Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple. The queue extended from the temple entrance to the main road. Security staff had a tough time managing the devotees, and all the lodges in Kollur were filled to capacity over the weekend.
Sahasranalikera Ganapati Yaga and Sankastahara Chathurthi were held at Kumbashi Anegudde Sri Vinayaka Temple on Sunday. More than 30,000 devotees participated in the religious ceremonies.
Scores of devotees visited Kukke Sri Subramanya Temple on Saturday and Sunday, partaking in the prasadam. Crowds of people were seen at the bathing ghat of Kumaradhara, Subramanya town, and the outer yard of the temple.
Twice the usual number of devotees visited Udupi Sri Krishna Temple, Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala, and Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Temples on both Saturday and Sunday.
