Vittal, May 26: A burglary occurred at a locked house in front of the Parthippadi Masjid in Vitlapadnur village, the occupants of which were abroad. The perpetrators made away with a Rado watch, CCTV, and a DVR.
The family of the homeowner, M K Khalil, had recently returned from Ajman, an Arab country, only six months ago. The suspicious activity was noticed by neighbours on Sunday, May 26, in the morning when they observed the front door ajar.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that the culprits had tampered with the CCTV camera in the yard and forcibly entered into the house by breaking open the front door. They ransacked the property inside, spending hours rummaging through four cupboards. Notably, they even left the air conditioning running for their convenience during the theft.
Among the stolen items was a Rado watch valued at Rs 1 lac, which was taken from a shelf. Fortunately, the family's gold ornaments, belonging to Malika Khalil, remained untouched as they were overseas. The thieves, after an extensive search, also made away with a DVR before they decamped.
Local authorities from the Vittal police department promptly responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
