Udupi, May 23: "We have recommended that the state committee take disciplinary action against former MLA Raghupati Bhat,” said Kishore Kumar Kundapur, Udupi district BJP president.
Addressing the media on Thursday, May 23, he said, "Raghupati Bhat has held all the top positions in the party and in his political life. He wanted to contest the elections but was denied a ticket. His revolt is not an appropriate response to the issues he claims to have faced. We have given our recommendation to the state committee for disciplinary action. He is spreading false information among the voters because he was denied a ticket. The state committee might implement the action within a few days."
Speaking about the involvement of some district committee members with Raghupati Bhat, Kishore Kumar said, "Once the disciplinary action is taken against Raghupati Bhat, we will also take action against the district committee members involved with him," he added.
Karkala MLA and state BJP general secretary Sunil Kumar said that Raghupati Bhat should announce his retirement from politics within 24 hours, otherwise disciplinary action will be taken against him.
Speaking with reporters, he said, "If he does not announce his retirement, disciplinary actions will be taken. We are focused on ensuring our candidate's victory. We are still hoping for his announcement. We abide by the decision of the party's high command. The party will correct its decision if any injustice has occurred.”
