Kasargod: Two Dead, Twenty Injured in Ghastly Road Mishap

Kasargod, Oct 10: Two persons were killed and twenty others injured in a ghastly road mishap that occurred on the national highway near Santosh Nagar here on Monday October 10 afternoon.
The accident took place when a private passenger bus plying from Kannur collided with an Innova car at 1.30 pm. As a result the car passengers - Manikanta (37), an entrepreneur and resident of Chakkarakkal and the driver Srikumar (48), a resident of Kannur were killed instantly. Their car was totally crushed.
The police with the help of locals shifted the injured to a private hospital in Kasargod. Manikanta and Srikumar too were rushed to the hospital, where they were pronounced brought dead.
Among the injured are Shankar Pillai (45), Janaki (40), Jojy Mathew (33), member of district CPM V Narayanan (55), Sitalaxmi (50), Karicchi (60), Abdul Rehman (60), Sajita (26), Sunil Kumar (30), Usha (33), Damodar Nambiar (55), Nitu (14), Dhanya (25), Baby (32) and others. They were all in the bus.
The traffic was disrupted for nearly half-an-hour as a result of the accident.
The town police have registered a case in this regard.
