Kasargod: Two Dead, Twenty Injured in Ghastly Road Mishap

Kasargod, Oct 10: Two persons were killed and twenty others injured in a ghastly road mishap that occurred on the national highway near Santosh Nagar here on Monday October 10 afternoon.

The accident took place when a private passenger bus plying from Kannur collided with an Innova car at 1.30 pm. As a result the car passengers - Manikanta (37), an entrepreneur and resident of Chakkarakkal and the driver Srikumar (48), a resident of Kannur were killed instantly. Their car was totally crushed. 

The police with the help of locals shifted the injured to a private hospital in Kasargod. Manikanta and Srikumar too were rushed to the hospital, where they were pronounced brought dead. 

Among the injured are Shankar Pillai (45), Janaki (40), Jojy Mathew (33), member of district CPM V Narayanan (55), Sitalaxmi (50), Karicchi (60), Abdul Rehman (60), Sajita (26), Sunil Kumar (30), Usha (33), Damodar Nambiar (55), Nitu (14), Dhanya (25), Baby (32) and others. They were all in the bus.

The traffic was disrupted for nearly half-an-hour as a result of the accident.

The town police have registered a case in this regard.

    it a very heart breaking to see these pictures, the two passengers in the innova car lost their lives because of a ruthless bus driver, hope god punishes the bus driver for the loss of these two lives and god bless the families of both the passengers who lost their live. may god give their family courage health and wealth to live their future life. god bless their families with courage to face such a tremendous sudden shock of their life.

    YOUR STATEMENT IS 100% WRONG.

    STYLE OF DRIVING IS A MAJOR CAUSE FOR THE ACCIDENT.

    IF YOU PROVIDE 16 LANE ROADS WITH WIDE ENOUGH TO RUN A PLANE , OUR RECKLESS DRIVERS WILL MAKE ACCIDENTS.

    ACCIDENTS HAPPEN WHEN MOST OF THE DRIVERS ARE OVERSPEED,SLEEPY, DRUNKEN, TALKING ON MOBILE WHILE DRIVING.

    I FULLY BLAME ON DRIVERS FOR THE ACCIDENTS.

    I have noticed quite often that there are a few drivers who are speeding dangerously and driving like maniacs, and it`s high time that the passengers stand up firm, and send a warning to the drivers, because, after all it is their life which is in danger, and I would think that they have every right to do so. Of course, in this particular accident we do not know the exact cause. Quite often we tend to blame the authorities for the narrow and bad roads etc but if one looks at the accident statistics, excessive speeding is the cause in majority of the cases.

    I am so sad that, One among the dead is my relative [Mr. Srikumar(48), actually he is the entrepreneur from Kannur]. I am out of words to express my sorrows. But I feel like spitting abusive words on the faces of all those bus drivers who doesn't even care the life of people inside and outside the buses they drive, Wonder they themselves value their life or what!! Its not only because of the narrow roads but also because of the rash and cruel driving of this private bus drivers. They hardly care about the other vehicles on the road or even the passengers they are carrying with. They just want to reach the destination a second earlier than the next bus. But they never understand that, it would be great if some lives can be saved against a second or two which get lost. I express my deep condolence for both the families of SREE ETTAN and MANIKANDAN.
    May both of them REST IN PEACE.

    Very Sad incident. Two lives lost. May their souls Rest In Peace.

    Most of the accidents happens on Kundapur - Kasrgod highway due to the reckless driving of Private bus drivers who have full support of their owners to commit these accidents if required to collect more money. I have noticed in all accident news in which Privet bus involved, Daiji World tried not disclosed identity of the bus. So many photos, But not a single photo identifying the bus name or reference of the operator in the article. Appreciate atleast one photo clearly showing the bus name, also add drivers and owners name in the article.

    These accidents considerable reduced and lives can be saved if these Privet buses just follow the norms\rules while overtaking and negotiating bends\curves. God Bless Karnataka

    All roads accidents are only due to narrow roads.People encroach roads and roads remain narrow.The government only baptize them as state higways but they are not standard roads to be called so.Our roads do not have deviders so that they can be safe.people call strike and protest for inflation but no politcal party makes a protest for the road safety and safe roads.Our roads not safe even for a ambulance.
