Mangaluru, Apr 22: In a rare incident, 11 air bullets were discovered in the stomach of a python, which was treated by veterinarian Dr Yashashwi.
The python had been preying on a Persian cat in Anegundi city. As it was swallowing the cat, a net became entangled below its neck, causing the python distress.
Local residents then contacted reptile expert Bhuvan Devadiga, who promptly notified the forest department. Upon arrival, forest department officials released the python's neck from the net.
Subsequently, Dr Yashashwi provided treatment to the python. During an x-ray examination for further treatment, 11 air bullets were found lodged in its stomach. Bhuvan Devadiga speculated that these air bullets may have been shot at the python several years ago, with skin having developed around some of the bullets. Two bullets have been successfully removed, and the python is currently recovering.
