Udupi, Apr 21: Combing operations have begun on the Karnataka-Kerala border areas police officials indicate as some incidents of naxal sighting have occurred in the region.
Speaking to media persons, SP of Udupi, Arun K said, “A few days back some suspected naxals visited a few houses and shops in the border areas of Karnataka and Kerala. There was no naxal activities reported in Karnataka for the last five to six years We have started operations along with ANF in the respective areas. We are also collecting information from locals regarding any movement of naxalites."
“On the day of polling all polling booths in naxal affected areas will be given Central force protection. As of now there are no issues. However, to ensure peaceful polling we have made suitable arrangements,” he said.
