Mangaluru, Apr 16: In the current Lok Sabha elections, provisions have been made for voting from residences for individuals above 85 years of age and those with a handicap of over 40%. In the district, there are 8,010 senior citizens and differently abled individuals eligible for this facility. Among them, 6,658 voters, comprising 5,011 senior citizens and 1,647 differently abled, have already utilized these provisions to cast their votes.
Mullai Muhilan, deputy commissioner, and district election officer, stated that the district has witnessed the highest number of senior citizens and differently abled individuals opting to vote from their residences in the state.
The joy of exercising their franchise was evident among the senior citizens and differently abled individuals, according to Anand K., Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Panchayat and President of the District Sweep Committee.
