Bengaluru, Apr 14: In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Gangadevi, the woman accused of murdering her two children in Jalahalli, has tragically died by suicide in Parappana Agrahara prison in the city.
Gangadevi was found hanging in the prison's toilet on Thursday night. This grim development follows her shocking confession on Wednesday morning, where she admitted to suffocating her children. Despite her intentions of ending her own life, authorities intervened and prevented the suicide attempt.
The deceased, Gangadevi, had been residing with her two children in Jalahalli prior to the horrific incident. Following her arrest, she was remanded to Parappana Agrahara prison.
Following a post-mortem examination, Gangadevi's remains were handed over to her relatives for final rites.
The tragic circumstances surrounding Gangadevi's actions shed light on a tumultuous family situation. Her husband, already imprisoned on charges of sexual harassment, hails from Andhra Pradesh, as does Gangadevi. Previously employed in the marketing sector of a private company, Gangadevi's marriage of ten years had been marred by strife, leading to her husband's arrest under the POCSO Act.
Police sources suggest that ongoing family conflicts may have contributed to Gangadevi's decision to take her own life, underscoring the depth of this tragic saga.
