Mysuru, Apr 13: In a broadside at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and claiming that he rode on uttering lies for 10 years and did nothing for the people, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and wondered how Modi is coming to Mysuru seeking votes.
“Modi knows that even if he utters lies, people still shout Modi, Modi and he has increased his lies,” he said addressing the Congress rally to drum up support for the party candidates in Mysuru-Kodagu and Chamarajanagar constituencies on Saturday.
Siddaramaiah recounted the series of lies and false promise of Modi and BJP starting with the grandiose promise of depositing Rs 15 lac in each person’s bank account, bringing back the black money stashed abroad, doubling of the income of farmers, reducing prices of petrol, diesel, LPG and fertilisers, creating 2 crore jobs annually and ensuring enhancement of the value of rupee against the dollar.
“None of the promises of Modi has been fulfilled and he fooled the people. He is now shamelessly peddling Modi ki Guarantee,” the chief minister attacked.
Siddaramaiah asked the voters, “how can you keep on voting for Modi even when he has been making a fool of you and forgetting all his promises? Do you want to be fooled still more?”
The chief minister listed out the achievements of the Congress government in Mysuru and pointed out that neither the Modi regime or the BJP regime did anything and completely forgotten their poll promises while it is the Congress party which implemented its promises on guarantees and delivered on its promises earlier.
Lambasting the BJP as a “factory of lies,” Siddaramaiah said the opposition party has changed its two-term MP and seeks votes for the scion of the erstwhile Mysuru royal family after ignoring the development of the constituency. The Congress candidate Lakshman is an ordinary person, who has been working for and with the people.
He asked BJP to explain a single programme to help the poor, working classes and women. The BJP will be disappointed if it believes that it can win and get votes by raking up sensitive religious and communal issues, he warned.
The chief minister said the Congress government under Indira Gandhi came out with 20-point programme. "Has Modi given even a single-point programme except keeping on uttering lies and falsehood for 10 years?" he asked.
He said it was the Congress governments which paved the way for industrialisation, establishment of higher educational institutions, space programmes and implementing anti-poverty programmes while Modi regime has nothing to show for itself, he added.
