Mangalore: Bengre Duo Makes Mark at Commonwealth Life Saving Games

Mangalore, Oct 6: A team of Indian expert swimmers and lifesavers, including two from Mangalore, have made their mark at the intenational level, by winning gold, silver and bronze medals at the Commonwealth Life Saving Games.
Thushant Bengre and Sanketh Bengre of Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project won the bronze in the 4X25 Manikin Carry Relay team event.

The two had earlier won gold medals at the National Championship - Rescue India-2011 held at Thiruvananthapuram.
The event was held in Durban, South Africa from September 27 to October 1. Teams from all Commonwealth countries such as Australia, Scotland, Canada, England and others participated.
Tarun Murugesh (Chennai), Rahul Yadav (Kolkata) and Yashraj Tarkar(Maharashtra) were the other members of the Indian contingent.
Tarun Murugesh won two golds, in 100 mt obstacle swim and in 100 mt super lifesaver, both individual events, while Rahul Yadav won the silver in 100 mtr super lifesaver individual event.
Yusuf Chudesra of Maharastra was the coach and team manager. Having won the gold, Tarun Murugesh has qualified for World Championships to be held in Australia next year.
