Melbourne Konkan Community holds cricket, throwball tournament

Melbourne, Mar 18: Melbourne Konkan Community (MKC) just wrapped up an exhilarating day at the MKC cricket and throwball tournament, held at the picturesque Fawkner Park in South Yarra on Sunday, March 17. The event saw an enthusiastic gathering of teams bright and early, with registrations kicking off in the morning. After a hearty breakfast to fuel up, the games commenced, marking the beginning of a thrilling day of sports and camaraderie.

With over 300 attendees, this year's sports day boasted a record-breaking turnout, showcasing the vibrant spirit of the community.

 

Introducing women's cricket was a highlight of the day, providing a wonderful opportunity for more women to actively participate in sports. MKC, thrilled by the positive response and looks forward to making women's cricket a regular feature of future tournaments.

Mother nature smiled upon the event with perfect weather – sunny skies and a gentle breeze – creating the ideal backdrop for the outdoor festivities. Attendees relished a delightful breakfast spread of idli sambar and sheera, lovingly prepared and served by the dedicated MKC committee. The mouthwatering biryani served at lunch, satisfied hungry appetites and added to the festive ambiance.

Mira D'Silva of Delivery Centric, Gordon Lewis of GLMS, Harpreet Walia of Fletchers Real Estate in Wyndham, Dopley Pais and Sunil Narayan of Tarneit Service Centre, Dr Rinku Raj of Lotus Family Medical, Melwin Lobo of Unicorn Infra, and Glevin & Lynn from Tarneit, the generous sponsors, were thanked. 

Some remarkable displays of skill and sportsmanship were witnessed, with new teams emerging victorious, showcasing the power of perseverance and teamwork.

    This tournament was very poorly organised and very unprofessionl in every area of the game. Even refree/umpire overruled by organisers. Such a bad tournament.
