Bengaluru, Feb 26: Lambasting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his failure to keep his promise of creating 2 crore annually or 20 crore jobs since 2014, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said his Congress government has delivered on its promise of unemployment allowance under Yuva Nidhi Guarantee and also will create jobs besides Training in Skills upgrading.
Speaking after inaugurating the ruling Congress government’s mega two-day State-level Udyog Mela at the Bengaluru Palace Grounds on Monday, Siddaramaiah said unlike Modi, who has disappointed youth by not doing anything to tackle the unemployment problem or doubling of farmers’ income, the Congress government delivers on its promises and has implemented the five Guarantees promised in the run-up to the Assembly polls.
Unemployment problem is mounting and become a huge challenge during the last 10 years of Modi rule. ‘’If Modi has acted on his promise of creating 2 crore jobs annually in 2014, the country should have created 20 crore jobs in the last 10 years. Unfortunately, even existing jobs are lost and unemployment rate has mounted to a record 8.40%,’’ he said.
The Chief Minister said the Congress government has launched Yuva Nidhi to provide an allowance of Rs 3000 a month for unemployed graduates and Rs 1,500 a month to unemployed diploma holders.
“We will also create jobs and make arrangements for providing training to enable the unemployed youth to secure jobs. This is our promise to youth,’’ he declared.
Siddaramaiah said the State Government would establish more GTDC and strengthen the ones established already so that training arrangements to the youth to hone up their skills and even upgrade them to get jobs.
“The mega job fair being held in Bengaluru is truly historic,’’ he said pointing out that 580 leading national and multinational companies and organisations as well as over a lakh students are participating.
Over 1.10 lakh job opportunities are on offer at the Udyog Mela with more than 600 companies participating. A wide range of stalls are established to enable the youth to get jobs as per their educational qualifications and skills.
The Chief Minister promised to ensure that skill-based job training and more Udyog Melas will be organised and even district level job fairs will be held. The government wants to help the unemployed youth to get jobs.
