Kasargod, Feb 18: In a tragic incident in Kuntageradka near Chewar, a bus driver passed away due to a heart attack while driving. Fortunately, the quick actions of the driver prevented a major disaster, and all passengers remained unharmed.
The deceased, Abdul Rahman (42), a resident of Chewar Kuntageradka, was driving a bus on the Dharmatadka-Kasargod route. The incident occurred at 10 am on a Sunday morning.
As the bus reached Permude Junction, Rahman experienced chest pain. He alighted from the bus and sought help, drinking water from a nearby shop. Despite driving for another three kilometers, the bus came to a stop at Chewar Kuntageradka, and Rahman, sensing his condition, paused for a few minutes.
The driver's decision to stop the bus undoubtedly prevented a major disaster. The engine was still running when the incident occurred. Passengers and bystanders rushed Rahman to a hospital in Bandiyod, but sadly, he had already succumbed to the heart attack. The bus had over 30 passengers, including women and children, at the time of the incident.
Abdul Rahman had been working as a bus driver for several years.
