Bantwal, Feb 15: A woman jumped into the river from running train at around 6.20 am on Thursday February 15.
According to the Aadhar card available in the bag of the deceased person, railway police have suspected that the woman is Nayan M G (27), native of Tumakuru. She was travelling on Kannur-Bengaluru-Mangaluru train.
The woman jumped from the train when it was moving on the railway overbridge on Netravati river at B C Road. Railway personnel informed the matter to B C Road office and handed over her bag.
The motive for suicide and identity of the person is yet to be established. The mortal remains that were floating in the river were brought up by local diving experts Mohammed and team and was shifted to Bantwal government hospital for post-mortem examination.
Bantwal city police station ASI Devappa Vijayakumar visited the spot and are investigating further.
