Kundapur, Feb 10: "Our government intends to open medical colleges in all the districts of the state," said state minister of health and family welfare, Dinesh Gundu Rao. He made these remarks while speaking to reporters after inaugurating the service center and dialysis unit of the All India Hearing Aids Organization in Mysuru at the Kundapur Subdivision Public Hospital Complex on Saturday February 10.
He further said, "There will be emphasis on developing the existing medical colleges before establishing new ones. With 48 new taluks created, priority will be given to the development of older taluks established 20 years ago. The remaining taluks will be upgraded. Discussions will be held regarding doctors' reluctance to work in Karkala due to local issues during the progress review meeting.”
Responding to complaints about the lack of a hospital in Kollur, he stated that action will be taken in this regard after discussions. "New MBBS doctors have been appointed to fill vacant positions, and they have been instructed to work in those positions for at least a year. There will be no shortage of doctors in villages. Monkey fever is likely to spread before April, and the old vaccine has become ineffective. Discussions have been held to produce a new vaccine with a research center in Hyderabad, which will be made available to the public soon,” he said.
"The health centers established during the Congress rule in 2013 have become inactive. They will be revived gradually. Already, 800 pharmacists and technical experts have been appointed, with about 500 of them set to be assigned to Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, coastal, and Malnad regions next month. Additionally, 300 will be employed in Kalyana Karnataka states. The government has approved the appointment of specialist doctors, and the process will commence soon. Various challenges in the health sector will be addressed gradually. Investigations into corruption are being conducted by a committee led by Justice John Michael D'Cunha, and suitable action will be taken based on its report,” he concluded.
