Mangaluru, Feb 8: A disruption in the water pipeline has led to a halt in water supply to the city, causing inconvenience to citizens across various parts. The water supply interruption has persisted for three consecutive days, creating challenges for residents.
Several areas, including City Port, Kodialbailu, Kadri, PVS, Ladyhill, Jalligudde, Kodikal, Maryhill, Pacchanadi, Ashokanagar, Derebail, Naguri, Koolur, Panambur, Suratkal, Katipalla, Kana, Kulai, Mukka, and others, have been affected. While repair work on the damaged water pipeline is underway, it is reported that water tankers are being deployed to supply water to residential complexes.
The issue stems from a significant 1-meter diameter pipeline that carries water from Thumbe Dam to Bendurwell pumphouse. The pipeline sustained damage near Nagori, likely during construction activities. Water pumping was initially halted on Tuesday morning to facilitate repair work in Thumbe. Although water pumping resumed at 12:30 midnight on Tuesday, it ceased soon after due to the damage near Naguri.
The repair efforts continued on Thursday, and officials anticipate the resumption of water supply from Friday onwards. The disruption has prompted authorities to address the concerns of citizens facing the prolonged water scarcity.
