Mangaluru, Dec 28: A police team led by Bajpe sub-inspector Kumareshan apprehended Imran Ibrahim (24) and Nasir alias Nachi (26) on December 27 at Daddi check-post in Tenka Edapadavu village. The duo, residents of Padukonaje and Kallabettu villages respectively, were arrested on charges of stealing cows from various locations in Mangaluru using a car.
The police operation resulted in the confiscation of a blue Swift car valued at Rs 10 lac, a white Ritz car, and other equipment believed to have been used in the cattle thefts.
The accused were caught during routine vehicle checks ordered by Bajpe sub-inspector Sandeep. The arrests followed a case filed at Bajpe police station, where two cows and a calf, owned by Chandan Upadhyaya from Kinnimajalu in Badaga Edapadavu village, were reported stolen and slaughtered by unidentified individuals.
In response to this incident, a special team has been formed to apprehend suspected individuals residing in Todar, Handelu, Ulaibettu, and Gantalkatte areas.
