Mangalore: Magnificent Start to Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of Kadri Nrithya Vidya Nilaya

Mangalore, Sep 10: City-based Kadri Nrithya Vidya Nilaya, which has been imparting training in Bharat Natyam and classical music since long, is in the platinum jubilee year of its inception. The celebrations are being organized at Town Hall in the city through a three-day programme.
Padma Vibhushan V P Dhananjayan, who heads Bharatha Kalanjali, a Chennai-based institution, inaugurated the celebrations on Friday September 9. In his inaugural address, he hailed the services of Kadri Nrithya Vidya Nilaya, one of the oldest organizations of this region, for selflessly serving the cause of art and culture through imparting training in music and dance.
Dr Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation Moodbidri, presided over the function. In his address, he said the rich heritage of Indian music and dance, which are thousands of years old, need to be conserved, and appreciated the role played by Kadri Nrithya Vidya Nilaya towards this end. He hailed the institution for producing hundreds of quality dancers, dance teachers, and high achievers in music during the last 75 years.
Veteran dance trainers, 'Karnataka Kalashree' Master Vittal, 'Kalatilaka' Ullal Mohan Kumar, and 'Kalatilaka' Jayalakshmi Alva, were honoured.
MLA, U T Khader, chairman of A J Group of Concerns, A J Shetty, trustee of Kantavara temple, Dr Jeevandhar Ballal, and Bhujabali Dharmasthala participated as chief guests. Sudhakar Rao Pejavar welcomed. Cultural programmes were staged thereafter.
