Bengaluru, Dec 25: Renuka Aaradhya proved that a person can achieve unimaginable goals if one is ready to strive for it. Owner of a Rs 40 crore company today, Renuka once begged on the streets for a living due to extreme poverty.
Hailing from a extremely poor family on the outskirts of Bengaluru, Renuka worked as domestic help after completing his 10th grade. Later, he was going from door to door begging for rice, pulses and flour in the guise of a priest. But this was not enough for a living and he worked as a security guard. During his spare time he learnt operating machines and joined a factory as a lathe machine operator.
Renuka thought of getting married at the age of 20 as he thought that the responsibility of running a family would be more challenging and will motivate him to do more hard work.
Aaradhya was employed in a plastic factory when he got married. After marriage, a own business idea struck him and he began to sell suitcase covers. However, his business failed and he suffered loss of Rs 30,000. So he went back to his old profession of working as a security guard.
Renuka continued with experimentation and learnt driving and began working as a driver for a travel company. He used to take visitors who came to Bengaluru from overseas. Apart from salary he used to get hefty tips from the tourists. After working for four years in the travel agency he thought of starting his own travel company.
Renuka founded a travel agency with whatever money he had and also borrowed from the banks. The name of the company was Pravasi Cabs Private Limited. He purchased a car and within another a year he bought another car. A travel agency was trying to sell its business. Renuka bought it for Rs 6 lac. The company had 35 cabs with them.
As the luck favours the brave, Amazon India chose Renuka’s company for its promotion. Walmart and General Motors also joined in and took his services. Today his company is worth Rs 40 crore and there are 150 employees in the company.
