Hubballi, Dec 24: Kusaldarase Naveen D Padil, a talented artist from Tulunadu, secured the Best Actor award at the Karnataka International Film Festival in Hubballi, organized by the Karnataka International Film Academy.
The winning film, "Moogajjana Koli," directed by Santhosh Moda, unfolds a compelling narrative and features Naveen D Padil in the lead role of Moogajja. Portraying the character of a silent old man with a love for chickens, Padil's exceptional performance earned him accolades at the festival.
Produced by K Suresh under the banner "Nammakanasu Productions," "Moogajjana Koli" marks a significant achievement for being the first Are Bhashe film. The movie, set against the backdrop of Sullia in Dakshina Kannada district, explores the conflict and relationship between an innocent-minded girl, played by Kumari Gaurika, and Govinda, the mute chicken farmer portrayed by Naveen D Padil.
The film boasts a talented crew, including renowned editor Suresh Urs, makeup artist Ranjit Ambady, lyricist Subbaraya Chokkadi, and cinematographer P Vishnuprasad. The project received recognition at various international film festivals, winning awards such as Best Child Actress Award for Baby Gaurika and Best Director Award at the Jagran International Film Festival, among others.
"Moogajjana Koli" holds cultural significance as an Are Bhashe film, spoken in Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, and certain areas of Kasargod. The film's success aligns with the recent recognition of Are Bhashe as an official language in the Karnataka film industry.
Reflecting on the accomplishment, producer K Suresh expressed pride in the film's achievements and announced that "Moogajna Koji" is set to hit screens in the first half of 2024. The movie's selection and recognition at prestigious festivals underscore its cultural and cinematic importance.
