Chennai, Dec 13: In a quite unusual scenario, the son of a renowned Tamil actor chose UPSC career over acting.
Srutanjay Narayanan son of Chinni, well known personality of Tamil film world, cracked UPSC with an impressive rank of AIR 75.
Narayanan was an all-rounder from his school days. In addition to being a brilliant student, he also took part in cultural activities in the school including theatre and plays. As he was topper in his class, his parents asked him to continue his studies.
Narayanan completed his master’s degree from Ashoka University after graduating from college of engineering at Guindy. After his master’s degree, Narayanan got a high paying job in a start-up company. He took up the job and worked in night shifts. This helped him to prepare for the UPSC during day time.
In spite of doing a night shift and feeling tired, Narayanan devoted around four to five hours every day for the UPSC preparation. When the exams were nearby, he increased his study time to 10 hours and got AIR 75 and became IAS officer in 2015.
Narayanan’s father Chinni is proud of his son that he did not cash in on his name and chose an entirely different career by himself. At present, Narayanan is the sub-collector of Trippur district of Tamil Nadu.
