Karnataka reports 50% rise in cyber crimes during 2022, ranked second in India - NCRB

Bengaluru, Dec 12: National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has stated that there has been a 50% rise in cyber crimes in Karnataka during the year 2022.

While 12,556 FIRs were registered during 2022, 8,136 FIRs were registered during 2021. Karnataka stands second in the country in terms of reporting of cybercrimes.

Telangana has reported 15,297 cases, the highest in the country. Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh occupy second and third positions with 12,556 and 10,117 cases respectively.

As per NCRB statistics, the cyber crime cases reported in the state are 18.6 per lacs and their chargesheet is up to 21.1.

Among the total number of cyber cases in the state, the highest number of cases were booked under the Information Technology (IT) Act.

    State boasting of Silicon City of India and such extremely low level of common sense and logic that it stands second in being victims to cyber crime; what's the use of long paper degrees without learning these basic traits? It would be shocking to know that majority of cyber criminals involved in financial frauds have hardly any education and operate from very remote places in the backward regions of the country; and they being able to defraud the highly educated population of this state is really 😲 shocking.

    What is the rate of solving these Cyber Crimes? Probably very low. The police seem to be aware that the perpetuators of the Cyber Crimes are based in the Northern States of India and that they enjoy great support from the politicians there. Unless the politicians and the administrators get going behind these criminals with a very strong hand, I do not foresee any reduction in the crime rates
