Bengaluru, Dec 12: National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has stated that there has been a 50% rise in cyber crimes in Karnataka during the year 2022.
While 12,556 FIRs were registered during 2022, 8,136 FIRs were registered during 2021. Karnataka stands second in the country in terms of reporting of cybercrimes.
Telangana has reported 15,297 cases, the highest in the country. Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh occupy second and third positions with 12,556 and 10,117 cases respectively.
As per NCRB statistics, the cyber crime cases reported in the state are 18.6 per lacs and their chargesheet is up to 21.1.
Among the total number of cyber cases in the state, the highest number of cases were booked under the Information Technology (IT) Act.
