Madhya Pradesh, Dec 9: Deputy commissioner (DC) of Mandla in the state Saloni Sidana gave up her lucrative doctor profession to serve the nation and became an IAS officer.
Sidana completed her MBBS in 2012 from Lady Hardinge medical college of New Delhi. She also had chance to go abroad for higher studies. However, she opted to stay back in India and prepare for the UPSC.
Sidana studied hard for long hours in the library in preparation for the examination and cleared it in her very first attempt with an all India rank of 74.
Saloni says that both civil servants and doctors have to work for the upliftment of society. She says that she likes interacting with people in the course of her work.
Saloni is a role model in her marriage too. She got her marriage registered in court for Rs 500 and attended her duties within two days of tying the knot. Her husband, Ashish Vashista, is also an IAS officer.
