Mangalore: Exciting Finish to M'lore Super Series State-level Badminton Tourney

Mangalore, Sep 5: The two-day ‘Mangalore Super Series–2011’, a state-level open badminton tournament held at U S Mallya Indoor Stadium, Lady Hill, concluded here on Sunday September 4 with youngsters displaying awesome skills with the racquet.
The tournament, inaugurated on Saturday September 3 was organised by Mangalore Sports Private Limited.
Roshni Shetty from Mangalore emerged as winner in the under-13 girls singles, defeating Neha Harish from Udupi 21-13, 21-3.
In the under-13 boys doubles, Ramith and Samanth from Udupi beat Abhay Pai and Prithviraj from Mangalore 21-14, 21-12.
Govardhan Shenoy and Glanish Pinto from Udupi defeated Vidhur and Damodar Shenoy Mangalore 21-15, 19-21, 25-23, in the under-15 doubles category.
In under-13 girls doubles the winners were Glancia and Neha Harish from Udupi who won two straight sets 21-15, 21-10 against Madhumitha and Navya, Mangalore.
In open women's singles, Neha from Mangalore defeated Roshni Shetty, Mangalore 21-10, 21-14 to bag the top prize.
In the under-15 boys singles Vidhur from Mangalore and Adithya L Bhat had a close match, with Vidhur winning 21-19, 21-18.
Under 17 girls singles between Medha and Neha also saw a nail-biting finish. Neha kept her nerve and secured the win 21-13, 13-21, 21-19.
Rajans Badminton Academy Mangalore won the overall championship.
Nearly 400 to 500 players participated in the event from across the state. Winners and runners-up bagged cash prizes, trophies and certificates.
