Mangaluru, Dec 5: The Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R), Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail unit, organised Prathibha Puraskar to honour academic achievers and talents of Derebail parish of 2022-23. The felicitation programme was held on December 3 at Derebail parish meeting hall. The programme commenced with a prayer led by Jeevan Miranda, treasurer of Catholic Sabha.
The president of Catholic Sabha Derebail - Vilma Monteiro as president of the function, Dr Joseph Martis - spiritual director, Mark Sera, senior platoon commander, Home Guards, Dakshina Kannada District, as the chief guest of the programme, Sheela D’Souza - vice president of Derebail Parish Pastoral Parishad (PPP), Denzil Pinto - secretary of PPP, Anil Patrao – coordinator of 21 Commissions, PPP, Helen Menezes – secretary Catholic Sabha Derebail and Edward J Coelho, Prathibha Puraskar event coordinator were on the dais.
The Prathibha Puraskar event coordinator Edward welcomed the gathering with an introduction saying that Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh ® Derebail unit which was established on June 25, 2000 has completed 23 years. Now the unit is registered with 276 life members serving with service, sacrifice and unity–the Motto of Catholic Sabha. He also requested the participants to join the unit and increase membership.
Vilma Montiero florally welcomed the dignitaries on the dais. Then the guest on dais honoured 13 academic achievers of above 80+% of marks in SSLC, 21 academic achievers of above 80+% of marks in PUC, 2 graduate achievers of above 80+% of marks and rank holders, 2 double graduates - BEd, 2 post graduates 80+% and rank holders, 7 sportsmen and 2 gold medallists from chief minister.
Fr Joseph Martis, parish priest of Derebail church while addressing the gathering appreciated the service of Catholic Sabha and invited some more dedication in the members and expressed the efficiency of the talents of Derebail and encouraged them to serve for the social benefits of the society. Then the entire office bearers’ team of Catholic Sabha including Fr Joseph Martis honoured the chief guest Mark Sera for his achievements, leadership and relentless service to the needy and to nature. While addressing the gathering, Mark Sera expressed his gratitude to Catholic Sabha for organising such a wonderful programme systematically. He requested all the achievers to try for government jobs and work as government officers rather than going abroad and joining private enterprises.
Helen Menezes - secretary delivered the vote of thanks and Fr Joseph Martis concluded the programme by leading a hymn and blessed the gathering. A sumptuous breakfast was arranged. Pramila Furtado compered the programmed. The programme was appreciated by all participants and they expressed their word of gratitude.
