Mangaluru, Dec 2: A number of issues were discussed at the railways' meeting held at the zilla panchayat auditorium on Saturday December 2.

The meeting was attended by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, and MLAs Bharath Shetty and Vedavyas Kamath. The meeting was also attended by the officials and delegates from the Palakkad railway division and the Mysore railway division.

Various railway-related issues were discussed, with an emphasis on the recent developments and continuing infrastructure projects. The members sought the updates on ongoing projects and joined in discussions about the status of major railway undertakings. A part of the discussion was devoted to addressing public and individual issues about ongoing infrastructure improvements. Attendees were given the opportunity to ask the members questions, allowing for an open dialogue for their questions.

Discussions focused specifically on the expansion of Ullal and Someshwar roads and other infrastructural developments. The members questioned about the completion of newly built platforms in Mangaluru, assuring the public that they will be operating soon. The session also looked into the status of Smart City infrastructure plans and looking for explanations for delay in construction, pending permits, and expected completion dates.

Notably, the taxi association expressed worries regarding parking issues, citing the difficulties encountered when forced to relocate after serving from the same location for many years. The group emphasised the problems that drivers, particularly those from low-income families, come across.

The meeting provided an important channel to interact between officials and the general public. The open forum allowed for meaningful conversations on railway-related issues and provided insights into addressing local community concerns.
