Kundapur, Dec 2: “A state level Bhajan competitions will be held under the leadership of Kundapur Anegudde Vinayaka temple Kumbhasi with the cooperation of Kundapur based Bhajan groups at Anegudde Vinayak temple on Sunday, December 3,” said state level dancing Bhajan competition committee president Malyadi Shivarama Shetty.
“The Bhajans will be set in motion by managing trustee of the temple, Ramana Upadhyaya after the procession at 8.30 am on December 3. The state level dancing Bhajans will be inaugurated and blessed by Vidyendra Theertha Sripada of Surathkal Chitrapur mutt at 9 am. Anegudde Vinayaka temple retired managing trustee, K Suryanarayana Upadhyaya will preside over the hall programme,” he said.
“The duet Bhajan competitions will begin at 10 am. 48 state level Bhajan teams will participate in them. The concluding programme will be held at 7.30 pm. Kota Amratheshwari temple managing trustee Anand C Kunder will preside over the hall programme,” he said.
Vinayaka temple managing trustee Ramana Upadhyaya said that the Bhajan workshops held in the temple in the past, inspired state level Bhajan competitions. “Everybody in the society is developing spiritual initiative. Bhajans help for the evolution of religious and social culture. There is a good response for the programm,” he said.
Srirama Koteshwar Kala Sangha president B G Seetarama Dhanya Gopadi said that competitions in duet Bhajans with devotional songs is a new experiment. “There is a separate stage for them. Four people will sing Bhajans. There will be two teams dancing on the stages to the beats of the bhajans. Eight minutes of time is allowed to them. As many as 12 to 16 people are allowed to participate in each Bhajan group. The competitions will be held at the same time on two stages. Only their rhythm, gesture and dance will be considered. More than 90 groups have expressed their interest to participate and 48 groups are selected,” he said.
Convener Raghavendra Shettigar said that it is a new experiment. “The dual Bhajan competitions are being held simultaneously. The dancing teams should dance according to Bhajans sung by the other group. It is a unique competition,” he said.
