Mangaluru, Dec 1: A couple of Palakkad origin in Kerala have filed a complaint with Pandeshwar police station accusing two people of duping them Rs 30 lac on the pretext of providing an apartment in an under construction residential complex near Jeppu Shadi Mahal.
Rukiabi Moodambail and Mohammed Ali, residents of Cherpal Cherry of Palakkad district in Kerala are the victims of this fraud.
In 2015, Ashraf Hassan and Mohammed Salam made the couple believe that they are the partners of a construction company and said that they are building an apartment complex near Shadi Mahal at Jeppu in the city. They offered a first floor flat for Rs 31,75,500. The duo also promised that the construction of the building will get completed in 2017.
The couple believed accused Ashraf and Salam and paid Rs 20 lac through cheque and Rs 10 lac in cash. As the apartment building did not get completed in 2017, they couple asked Ashraf and Salam to return their money. Initially the accused gave many lame excuses. Later, they gave three cheques of Rs 10 lac each. However, they got dishonoured when presented to the bank. The accused also threatened the couple, it is said.
Pandeshwar police are investigating further.
