Mumbai, Nov 27: The 95th annual meeting of Bantara Sangha, Mumbai was inaugurated by its president, Chandrahasa K Shetty at Radhabhai Thimmappa Bhandary auditorium, Bantara Bhavan, Kurla east on Sunday morning, November 26.
Bunts Sangha Mumbai vice president Rathnaker Shetty Mundkoor, honorary chief secretary Dr R K Shetty, honorary treasurer CA Harish D Shetty, joint secretary Diwaker Shetty Indrali, joint treasurer Mundppa S Payyade, ladies wing president Uma Krishna Shetty, youth wing president Sagar Diwaker Shetty, education and social welfare committee president Shantaram B Shetty, Povai education committee president B R Shetty, higher education committee president CA I R Shetty, former president Aikala Harish Shetty, president of the Federation of world bunts association, Karnire Vishwanath Shetty and trustee member Dr Virar Shanker B Shetty were on the dais.
Pravin Bhoja Shetty was unanimously elected as the president of the sangha for the term of 2023-26. Chief election officer, advocate D K Shetty announced the election of the president. Shekar Shetty announced the selection of 60 executive committee members.
Newly elected president Pravin B Shetty who took over the charge said that he never dreamt or believed to be the president. “I only aspired to be the vice president. Becoming the office bearer of Bantara Sangha is like sleeping on the bed of thorns. I will try to convert it to be the bed of roses. I will make use of the three years of presidentship and work for the growth of the sangha”, he said.
The meeting was inaugurated after offering pooja to Maha Vishnu deity in the premises of the sangha. The meeting began after singing the Bantageethe. Dr R K Shetty gave details of the previous annual meeting report and the activities during the year. CA Harish D Shetty tabled the accounts of the previous year. Education and social welfare committee president Shantaram B Shetty gave the report of his
committee, C S Uttam Shetty presented report of S M Shetty educational institute Povai, CA Pradeep J Shetty presented report of higher education committee and secretary Nithyananda S Hegde presented the report of Borivili educational institute.
The president gave away the late Y G Memorial award from Bantara Sangha to Bantaravani magazine honorary chief editor Ashok Pakkala and congratulated him. The best regional committee first prize panel sponsored by Aikala Harish Shetty was presented to Navimumbai regional committee and the second prize panel was presented to Jogeshwari Dahisar regional committee. Kurla Bhandup region’s Shanta N Shetty who recruited the highest number of members to the sangha during last year was felicitated.
Examination toppers in SSC and HSC from Ramanath S Payyade memorial and those who passed engineering courses from Theja Manjari memorial engineering college were honored. Scholarships were distributed to students who passed with highest marks. Dignitaries who donated funds to the sangha were felicitated with mementos.
Trustee members of the sangha, former presidents, current office bearers, regional committee presidents, coordinators, sub committee heads, former office bearers, office bearers of ladies and youth wing and members were present in large numbers.
Former presidents of the sangha, advocate R C Shetty, B Vivek Shetty, Aikala Harish Shetty, Karnire Vishwanath Shetty, Padmanabha S Payyade, Jaya A Shetty, Shantarama B Shetty, Kishore Kumar Shetty Kuthyar, Ulthoor Mohandas Shetty, advocate D K Shetty, advocate R G Shetty, Virar Shanker B Shetty and Morla Rathnaker Shetty expressed their opinions and wished the best for the sangha.
Chandrahas K Shetty welcomed and compered the hall programme. Diwaker Shetty Indrali proposed a vote of thanks. The programme concluded after the national anthem.
