Udupi, Aug 31: Jyotikiran Kedilaya (58), philanthropist and talented flower decorator and floral arranger, breathed his last at his home in Padubidri in the district on Tuesday August 30. He is survived by mother, wife, a son, and a daughter.
Kedilaya had also worked as the president of Vanadurga Trust, which runs Khadgeshwari Brahmasthana in Padubidri, for 15 years. He was known for his skilled flower decoration, and for tireless service offered during religious ceremonies of the Brahmasthana. He did flower decoration at various religious ceremonies like Nagamandala, renovation of temples etc all over the coast, free of cost. He also took a major role in the decoration of Paryaya Dabar at Udupi since the last eight Paryaya periods.
His services were utilized at Tirupati, Shravanabelagola (Mamamastakabhisheka), Mantralaya, Haridwar, Mysore, Chennai, Mumbai, and at several places in Kerala. The flowery welcome arch he had created during the visit of former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, had succeeded in attracting the attention of the visiting dignitary.
