Mangalore, Aug 29: The Department of Chemistry at St Agnes College will be organizing “Rasa Chetana”, a one Day regional symposium at Conference Hall here on Friday September 2.
The symposium will focus on rejuvenation of chemistry education in the science curriculum particularly at the secondary level.
Eminent educationist Prof. Uday Maitra of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore will deliver the key note address.
The progarmme has objectives such as bringing the concerned subject experts, teachers and the officials to a common forum. And to deliberate on the issues like - the basics of Chemistry, more importance on application of Chemistry, and less practical orientation than theory.
The event also aims to decide on necessary steps to be taken to make the Chemistry portion more as a practical science, Chemistry teaching with demonstrations and application of Chemistry in day-to-day life.
The symposium is jointly organized by St Agnes College, Text Book Society, DSERT, Govt. of Karnataka and Pilikula Regional Science Centre(R), Mangalore.
Coordinator of Text Book Society and noted academician Prof G S Moodambadithaya and educationist cum communicator Prof M R Nagaraju, Bangalore will be moderators at the programme.
