Israel warns Hamas that fighting will intensify as Hezbollah enters conflict from Lebanon

Jerusalem, Oct 11 (IANS): Israel has warned Hamas that it will intensify fighting along the Gaza Strip as it continued its bombardment through the night as the military announced it had hit 450 targets even as the middle east war escalated with the entry of the Lebanese based Hezbollah terror outfit.

An Israel Defence Forces spokesman said that "fighting will intensify" and warned that scenes coming out of Gaza would be "difficult to understand and cope with".

Israel's bombardment of the Gaza Strip continued overnight, with the country's military announcing they struck 450 targets in the enclave in 24 hours.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza is "catastrophic" and hospitals are overwhelmed, Doctors Without Borders said, noting Israeli bombing of the enclave did not spare medical facilities.

Gaza's power authority fears it will run out of fuel within hours, leaving the areawithout electricity as Israel cut off supplies.

Gaza Palestinians often rely on generators to power their homes, offices and hospitals, but there is no way they can import fuels under the current situation, media reports said.

The IDF claimed an anti-tank missile was fired from Lebanon targeting a military site this morning.

Hezbollah, a Lebanese militant group, has been sporadically exchanging fire with Israel in recent days.

The last time Israel and Hezbollah engaged in war was way back in 2006, a conflict that lasted roughly 34 days.

There are Hamas militants holed up inside Israeli territory, but no significant fighting has been reported so far within the country at the moment, a spokesman for the IDF told NBC News.
