Mumbai: Bharath Cooperative Bank holds elections for board of directors

Mumbai, Oct 2: Bharath cooperative bank held elections for its board of directors for the period 2023-28 recently. It has 22 positions including 17 general category, two ladies positions, one position of
backward class – backward tribe and two co-opted positions.

Except for co-opted positions 49 aspirants had filed their nominations. Finally 40 contestants remained in the fray and faced elections.

Thimma, Poojary Koragappa Booba, Salian Raja Vodi Poojary, from ladies positions current director Karkera Sharada Sooru, Ameen Navinchandra Raju, Anchan Suresh Raghunath, former director Suvarna Rohith Mohanchandra, Kotian Keshava Kudpa, Kotian Ravi Jarappa, Kunder Harischandra Gopal, Poojary Jaya Vittal, Poojary Rithesh Kumar Dharmanna, Salian Anil Babu, Salian Rathnakar Narayan, Suvarna
Ravindra Raju, Vijay Kumar Sadanand contested. Anchan Neeta Madhav contested from the ladies seat.

From Jaya C Suvarna panel under the leadership of current director Suryakanth Jaya Suvarna general category, Ameen Somanath Babu, Kotian Jaya Aithappa, Poojary Gangadhar Jarappa, Salian Bhasker Muddu, current director Suvarna Suryakanth Jaya, Kotian Ashok Muthappa, Poojary Chandrashekar Somappa, former director Poojary Mohandas Giri, Poojary Naresh Krishna, Poojary Niranjan Lakshman, Poojary Santhosh Kantappa, Poojary Dayanand Raju, Poojary Ganesh Deju, Poojary Harish Vittal, Suvarna Narayana Lokaya, Suvarna Narayan Karnad Venkatappa, Suvarna Suresh Becha, for ladies seats Bangera Asha Rajesh Salian and Jayalakshmi Premanand contested.

Dr Bangera Sathish Narayan and Sathish Bangera Jagannath contested as independents. As current director Anbalagan C Harijan was the only candidate who filed nomination under scheduled caste / tribe category, he was elected unanimously.

The elections held from morning till evening were brisk and peaceful. Shareholders, especially senior citizens and the youth arrived at their respective polling booths and cast their votes. Nearly 14,860
votes were cast as per BCB sources.

The votes are likely to be counted at Brijwasi palace, Sonavane road on October 4 and the results will be announced there in the evening on October 5. The election officers will be announcing the election of
the new board of directors during the special general body meeting there in the evening.
