Udupi, Oct 2: Gandhi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti was celebrated with great enthusiasm and reverence at GM Vidyanikethan Public School (GMVPS). The occasion aimed not only to pay homage to the great leaders but also to instill the values of truth, non-violence among the students.

The day began with a special morning assembly, Flag hoisting by the principal, George Kurian where the chairman, students and staff gathered in the courtyard. The school choir sang Gandhi's favourite bhajans, and teachers presented key points highlighting their life and principles. The principal delivered a thought-provoking speech, emphasizing the enduring relevance of Gandhi's teachings in today's world.

In line with Gandhi's commitment to cleanliness, a ‘Swachhata Campaign’ was organized in the school. Students, armed with brooms and dustpans, enthusiastically cleaned the school premises and surrounding areas. This activity aimed to promote the idea that cleanliness is not just a responsibility but a way of life.

The Gandhi Jayanti celebration was a resounding success. It served as a reminder to all students and staff of the enduring importance of Mahatma Gandhi's teachings in our lives. The chairman, Prakashchandra Shetty inspired all to uphold Gandhiji’s principles of truth, non-violence, and simplicity in daily actions.
