Udupi, Aug 18: Renowned artist Peter A Lewis celebrated his 75th birthday and completion of 50 years in his art vocation. A special mass was offered on the occasion at Holy Family Church, Brahmavar here recently.
Mass was celebrated by Fr Bratz. This was followed by the Inauguration of ‘Chitralaya’ Art Gallery which was officially unveiled by Giselle Mehta, formerly of the Indian Revenue Service and currently an entrepreneur and writer.
The gallery was blessed by Fr Gerald Vegas.
The official website www.indiancoastalart.com was inaugurated by principal of MIT Kundapur Engineering college and writer Prof Dr Shantha Priya.
Former MLA Jayaprakash Hegde who is also an art lover paid a visit.
Peter A Lewis was felicitated by the president C Ashok Kumar Shetty and members of Rotary Club.
Peter has recieved the Rajyotsava Award and State Lalith Kala Honour in 1992. In the year 2001, he was honoured by all India Fine Arts and Crafts Society for his service to art at New Delhi.
Peter A Lewis's main skills are wall paintings wet and dry process, tapestry weaving and textile designing.
