Ramanagara, Aug 17: Salim (22), and Sahera (18), who stayed in neighbouring houses in Kurimande Kesare in Mysore, committed suicide together by jumping to their deaths from Ramadevara Betta hill in Sriramanagar here on Monday. A complaint was registered at the rural police station here in this connection on Tuesday August 16.

The two had come in a motor bike. They parked their vehicle at the entrance to the hill and started scaling the hill on Monday morning. They did not return till evening, and the locals said they had not seen them since they parked their vehicle. On Monday night, the policemen searched the surroundings but did not get any clue. The search operation was launched with the help of locals again on Tuesday morning. A boy who was grazing sheep near the hill said that he saw the two talking to each other atop the hill. “The boy caught hold of the girl’s hand and prepared to jump down. But the girl resisted. As the boy pulled her hand hard, both of them fell down,” he stated.

On the basis of the boy’s statement, the policemen started scouting the steep and congested terrain beneath the spot and recovered both the bodies. Police sub-inspector, G Pravin Babu, said that the two had fallen down from a height of about 300 ft and that their bodies would be handed over to their parents after post mortem.
