Mumbai, Sep 22: Celebration of “Girl Child Day” organized by Judean “Women Cell – St Jude’s Church, Jerimeri with the theme, “Digital Generation, Our Generation” - Education on Nutrition.
A total of 50 students from the age group of 10 to 25 years were invited by the Judean Women Cell, St Jude’s Church, Jerimerito celebrate the “Girl Child Day” on September 19 at 2:30 pm at St Jude’s Church Holy Fly Conference Hall.
Event started with opening prayer by Gracy D’Souza. Welcome speech by the coordinator Maria D’Costa. Sr Seema, founder of the cell welcomed the resourse person Sharon with a flower plant, followed by lightening of the lamp by chief guest Sharon, Sr Seema, Sr Irene, vice coordinator Sheila Chettiar, assistant secretary Clara Karkera.
Sr Seema introduced the resource person and speaker of the day, Sharon Rodriges who is a practising lawyer in Mumbai. A visiting lecturer in the college of Social Work-Nirmala Niketan, working with Health Promotion Trust of Archdiocese of Bombay, Resident / Parishner of St Joseph Church, Juhu, Mumbai who is an active social worker who works Voluntarily for the parish with her group of social work Interns, Former staff of Centre for Social Action - NGO of Bombay Archdiocese, Regular Trainer of Trainees in Jagruti Kendra : A Centre of Community Organisation of St Jude's Church Jerimeri. An expert in any topics under the Sky.
Lavina Kuttikat entertained all the committee members and participants with ice breaker game.
Sharon Rodrigues covered the topic on various issues of growing girls like:

Sharon also urged the girls to develop mind skills, learning skills, social skills and team skills. She also entertained the girls with quiz & spot prizes.
This was followed by dumb charades game conducted by Lavina & Mamtha. Girls actively participated in Group and won the prizes.
Girls were given refreshments sponsored by one of the Cell Members Gracy D’souza and a useful Kit sponsored by Flora D’souza. The event helped in sensitizing the students towards the need to take care of self, protect and empower a girl child for a better society.
Advisor of the Cell Mamtha Chettiar proposed vote of thanks, She thanked Fr Alias for his support, Sr Seema/ Sr Irene for their cooperation, resource person for her valuable time, Sponsors for the event. Mamtha also compered the event.
Cell welcomed new member Lira Alophonso introduced by Sr Seema. Other Members Josephine, Sevrin, Selvy and others helped distribution snacks & return gifts. Programme ended at 5.30 pm.
