Mangalore, Aug 16: For the sixth successful consecutive year St Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia here celebrated Konkani day with pomp and glitter on Monday, August 15.
Well known Konkani writter, dramatist and journalist Dolphy Cascia was the chief guest of the occasion. In his address he called on all the Konkani speaking people to be proud of their mother tongue. He also congratulated the parishioners for organizing Konkani day to celebrate
the richness of Konkani Culture.
Four regions of the parish presented Konkani programs. Traditional “Idliyo” prepared by parishioners in various wards was served to all.
Steevan Rodrigues , Convenor of Cultural Committee welcomed the gathering. Anita Rodrigues proposed vote of thanks. Parish Priest Fr Bonaventure Nazareth, Assistant parish priest Fr Roshan Crasta, vice president of PPC Rita Menezes, secretary of PPC Leslie D’Souza among others were present.
Earlier on Monday, Independence day was celebrated on the church grounds. A young scientist belonging to the parish, Lyned Lasrado unfurled the Indian flag.
