Beltangady: Long Weekend - Devotees Use Opportunity to Seek Divine Blessings

It was chock-a-block situation at Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala and Subrahmanya Kshetra, with devotees thronging in large numbers, on account of four consecutive holidays over the weekend.

There was heavy traffic jam which the police found tough to control.

The devotees had no place to even stand in both the temples and had to stand outside. Sources said that on Sunday August 14 alone about one lac devotees visited Dharmasthala.
 
For security reasons, bags and other baggage were prohibited inside the temple premises, and devotees had to keep them in shops and hang them on trees nearby.
 
On Friday August 12, holiday was announced for Varamahalaxmi puja, August 13 was government holiday as it was the second Saturday of the month, then came Sunday, followed by Independence Day on August 15.

Similar situation also prevailed in Shree Kshetra Kateel and Udupi. On Saturday, in Shree Krishna Temple, Udupi 25 quintals of rice was cooked. Devotees poured in good numbers on Sunday also.
