Mumbai, Aug 10 (IANS): State-run hydropower company NHPC Wednesday reported a 47.19 percent increase in net profit in the first quarter of the current fiscal at Rs.791.05 crore as against Rs.537.42 crore in the like period of 2010-11.
"Company has posted a net profit of Rs.7,910.50 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 as compared to Rs.5,374.20 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2010," NHPC said in a regulatory filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
According to the filing, the total income of the company rose by 45.85 percent at Rs.1,798.39 crore in the quarter under review from Rs.1,233.02 crore for the first quarter of last fiscal.
The other income of the company in the first quarter rose by 35.08 percent at Rs.237.85 crore in the quarter under review from Rs.176.07 crore in the corresponding period of last fiscal.
The company's scrip was trading at Rs.25.25 at the BSE around 2.30 p.m., up 4.12 percent.
