Mangaluru: Carmel School KG children celebrate tricolour week

Mangaluru, Aug 18: The tricolour week was observed at school from August 9. There were various activities and competition conducted for the children. The kindergarten children were brimming with enthusiasm and eagerness to show case their talent.

Children had fun and funky sensation squashing and trampling the clay. The clay modelling competition was conducted on August 10. The children of LKG participated with lot of gaiety and enthusiasm.

Music is beneficial for children as it, not only develops their aesthetic sense, but also the key to creativity. Patriotic singing competition was organized on August 11 for LKG and UKG children. This was an opportunity to teach them the importance of Independence Day.

On Saturday, August 12, patriotic dance competition was held for UKG. Children exhibited their dance moves for the patriotic songs with their tricolor attire and waving the national flag.

Tricolour sandwich making competition was held on August 14 in their respective classes. The LKG children brought different food items from their homes. Children prepared sandwich by using different items as cucumber, onion, cheese slice, carrot, bread etc. Motive was to perform the activity to make them understand about the ingredients, process to make sandwich and learn about different colours which referred to the national flag. For UKG it was a day of celebration. The children of UKG A section dressed up in colour green, while section B was dressed up in colour white and section C was dressed up in colour saffron.

Elocution competition was held for UKG children. They dressed up as great leaders and freedom fighters and delivered their speech. Children made craft with three different colours of our national flag and hung it with ribbons and decorated their classrooms.

On the day of Independence, a drill was performed on patriotic song by the LKG children.

The flag collage making activity was conducted on August 16 for the LKG children in their respective classes. Children made a collage of each tricolour with the help of their class teacher.
