Mangaluru, Aug 18: St Aloysius College (Autonomous) Mangaluru, commemorated the 77th Independence Day on August 15 with great zeal and patriotism. The event was a resounding success, witnessed by students, teachers, and dignitaries alike.

Dr Vishanz Pinto, head of the department of history was the chief guest for the programme. His inspiring presence added a touch of distinction to the event. The festivities kicked off with a spectacular NCC march, showcasing discipline and unity among the students. This was followed by the solemn and symbolic hoisting of the national flag by the chief guest and principal, underscoring the essence of freedom and unity. The assembly resonated with patriotic fervour as the students and teachers gathered to pay homage to the nation’s struggles and achievements. The campus radiated with an air of togetherness and pride. The feeling of unity was further amplified as sweets were distributed among the attendees, symbolizing the shared joy of the occasion.

To commemorate the 77th year of India’s independence, the college undertook a significant initiative by planting 77 saplings under the guidance of Arjun Mascarenhas, the environment officer of the college. This gesture not only reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to sustainability and environmental consciousness but also served as a powerful metaphor for growth, renewal, and progress. The entire event was a testament to the college’s unwavering dedication to fostering a sense of national pride, responsibility, and community engagement among its students.
