Mangaluru: St Agnes College holds student council orientation programme

Mangaluru, Aug 8: An orientation programme was arranged for the student council members 2023-24 on August 5-6, within the college premises. The objective was to foster unity and cultivate skills and attributes among the participants. 

Commencing with a blessing from the spirituality committee, the event initiated with an ice-breaker session led by Malavika Shetty, the student council coordinator and head of the department of computer applications. Elsie Tharien, former head of the department of psychology at St Agnes College (Autonomous) Mangaluru, conducted a dynamic and engaging session on 'Skills and Attributes of Effective Leadership'. This enlightening discourse emphasized the students' roles in each other's lives and motivated them to further enrich their understanding through this collective journey.

The subsequent day commenced with a prayer led by the cabinet members and a warm welcome to the day's speaker, Dr Kavyashree K B, head of the department and assistant professor in clinical psychology at St Agnes Centre for Post Graduate Studies and Research, Mangaluru.

Dr Kavyashree K B's presentation delved into 'Human Agency' and Integrity, exploring ways in which one can positively impact and influence the lives of others. This session provoked thoughtful reflection while maintaining an enjoyable atmosphere.

After a brief break, principal, Sr Dr M Venissa AC, addressed the attendees. Later in the afternoon, all cabinet members were given the opportunity to formulate an action plan for the academic year 2023-24, which they subsequently presented to the principal, vice principal, and coordinators. The orientation programme proved to be engaging, contributing significantly to the enhancement of their skills and self assurance.
